Vineger Tom play/ blogs - UNIT 3 & 4
The class collaborated on a project called vinegar Tom, Caryl Churchill is the playwright of vinegar tom. Our play we performed this term is about witch hunts and it’s also about feminism and prosecution this tells you that men have mistreated and misjudged women, also power relationships through the lens of the 17th century. The script uses features of the epic theatre related with the German playwright Bertolt Brecht, especially with its practical use of songs as well as the added overstatement of the actors when they performed the play and did the songs in the 17th century. the women had to wear modern dresses or skirts and the men wore shirts and trousers or jeans to make them look fashionable.
I did some research on the playwright of vinegar Tom which is a women called Caryl Churchill in (1976) it was premiered on the 12th of October. The vinegar Tom play was acted out at the epic theatre in (1976) originally it was set in the 17th century set in rular in England.
We had to work on our characters by looking at the hidden meanings of the lines and what the characters wanted to achieve, the character I was is Susan she’s the sort of woman that she is really emotional, and seems quite bossy and rude because Susan pushes Alice away also Susan tries to persuade.
Diary blogs:
Monday the 2nd November on this day we had a lesson with Shenagh she asked us to get in two pairs with Keanna we had a class discussions with our partner about the times we got blamed for something we didn’t do. Afterwards, as pairs we had to choose the situation we picked from our story and then rehearse it. Also bring it on stage, likewise we had to perform in front of everyone, my situation was i got blamed for stealing money.
I think the whole performance went well it was really good and interesting, I practiced my lines with Duana by working as a team to help each other to learn our lines in the class. It was helpful for both of us because we performed our parts separately in our groups to learn our lines to be ready for the performance, I learned my lines by writing the lines out on a piece of paper and my mum helped me by proof reading the lines to me first, then i repeated them word by word to learn all the lines faster also to memorise them in my mind. Next time i think what i could do better is be less nervous and just let the lines flow through my mind to actually remember all the lines and words and i think everyone else do the same so it will be perfect, to do this i will use post it notes and highlight the lines more to help me learn my lines at home.
